A Farewell Letter

Goodbye to my wonderful students and families,
I will try to not get too sentimental in this note but please bear with me a little.  This year has been one filled with incredible emotions and surprises, and yet here we are at the end.  Thank you so much for all of the incredible support I have received not just as a teacher, but also as a new(well kind of) mom.  The surprise early arrival of Augustine was definitely one of my most challenging moments in my life, and yet, you stood by me and hoped for the best along with me.

This year has been one of great moments.  I have seen these students grow from being unsure about what I was asking them to do, to taking the lead and pushing me further in my own thinking.  I have seen them teach other teachers and students how to blog and how to do Mystery Skype.  Their blogs have sparked global conversations, with more than 3,000 comments left from children and adults around the world.  To say that these kids have grown does not do their achievements justice.

So thank you for letting me be a part of their journey.  Thank you for letting me put them in my books, but most of all, thank you for letting them be a part of my life and memories.  Being a teacher is what I love to do and it is because of the students that I come to school excited every day.

I do not hope that this is goodbye, but rather see you later.  While I may not be in Middleton any longer after Thursday, I will still be around, so please reach out if you feel like it.  Tell the children they can always email me book recommendations, I always need those.

Thank you for letting me have your child every day.  They are now a part of my life always.

All my best, and have a wonderful summer.
